Neonatal PKU test
The examination of newborn babies for congenital metabolic disorders is regarded as AWBZ care. This examination takes place by means of a neonatal PKU test.
The PKU test involves examining newborn babies for eighteen disorders, the
early diagnosis of which helps prevent damage to health. This means that early
diagnosis is extremely important.
The PKU test is usually carried out within four to eight days after parturition.
